Another day in paradise...

Long night hmm? Makes sense, the city can treat you rough like that sometimes. 'Specially your type. Whatever, type that is. I don't really know; you've just got a look about you that you see a lot around these parts. Sandrosalva may look all nice and pretty at night with its neon-soaked streets but...well, you know. Anyway, get yourself together and get yourself back out there. The rent may be cheap but it ain't free...

About the game

Paradise Disco is a rules lite mini TTRPG built from my own Tangential Reference TTRPG system/engine and heavily inspired by ZA/UM studio's Disco Elysium. Everything in the game is built around applying either your skills or your attributes to interact with the world. The emphasis of this game is on player driven interactions and theatre of the mind gameplay. There's no dedicated combat or opposing rolls, just the difficulty value of whatever a player is trying to do. This way there's not much to learn and not much that a Narrator (the game master) needs to prep. You can use it as a low-cost insert to fill time between campaigns or as the foundation for a sandbox your players can explore.

What Do Players Need:

As a player you really just need a single twenty-sided dice and something to keep your character details on. Characters aren't super complicated so you can even just keep track of them with an index card.

What Do Narrators Need:

Really, all you need is an idea for a story or just some details of a city and some quests for your players to do. The rules place the emphasis on the characters to decide how and what to interact with. So, the narrator largely only needs to come up with skill difficulties on the fly. You can make up silly items that give bonuses to stats or skills either on the fly or ahead of time, but you don't need to have stat blocks for NPCs or anything. Just a city to drop your players into and a story (or stories) for them to interact with.

Support

This project was built to experiment with my much more ambitious project, the Tangential Reference rules system/engine that I've been developing. I may revisit this or expand on it in some way later if there's some visible interest but for now, I'm happy with this product. If you try it consider leaving a rating and a comment. Donations will help support other smaller projects like this and larger projects including putting finishing touches on Tangential Reference (art, professional editing, and the like).

Hello, who is the artist for this game's cover?

Hi there, the image was created using Adobe Firefly (an AI tool built solely off of adobe's licensed imagery) and then modified in post by Rakados.
